Promotions for the Cause of Fr. Willmann continues

The massive campaign on the Cause of Fr. George J. Willmann, SJ continues this year 2015 led by its National Executive Committee (NEC) headed by Msgr. Pedro Quitorio III, Spiritual Director of the Knights of Columbus in the Philippines and Director of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) Media Office.

Forty parishes and more than ten communities across Metro Manila were already visited as of March 31, 2015.

The continuation of this massive campaign started in March, while the preparation began right after the Papal visit in the Philippines last January.

Promotions for the 2015 KCFAPI annual fun run is also carried during the massive campaign. The proceeds will be given to the KC Foundations and to support the financial needs of the Cause.

The campaign, which started on June 2014 aims to cover the following six major areas to help in the effective awareness and promotion of the life and works of Fr. Willmann: Media, Knights of Columbus Proper, Schools, General Public, Organizations and Parishes.

The NEC is thanking the people, organizations and associations supporting the various promotional activities for the Cause of the Father of the Knights of Columbus in the Philippines, Fr. George J. Willmann, SJ.

Last year, from June to December 2014, various publications about Fr. Willmann and his heroic virtues have already been released both locally and internationally through the following media groups: GMA Network, ucanews, mabuhay.catholic.org, asianews and Philippines’ cbcpnews.com, among others. The NEC also conducted several awareness campaigns in more than 20 events within the Order of the Knights of Columbus.

More than 20 schools have likewise been visited (from the target of 10 schools only) including Emilio Aguinaldo College, Manila Times College, College of the Holy Spirit, Paco Catholic School, University of Sto. Tomas, Adamson University, Letran, Mapua, Lyceum, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Sta. Rosa College, among others.

Similarly, tarpaulins of Fr. Willmann were distributed to pedicab drivers, kalesa drivers and owners of stores inside Intramuros area to help in the promotion.

Various organizations and volunteer groups like YouthPinoy, Catholic Youth Organization in the Philippines, Daughters of Mary Immaculate and Youth Militia Immaculata have also expressed their support for the Cause of Fr. Willmann.

Thirty five (35) Parishes/Churches likewise welcomed the promotions on the Cause of Fr. Willmann (from the target of 20 Parishes only). These are San Agustin Church, Manila Cathedral, Quiapo Church, San Roque De Manila Parish, Sta. Monica Parish, among others.

The NEC took place in some major activities of Catholic Church like Yolanda Commemorative Run and Marian Conferences as well.

Ultimately, the Fr. George J. Willmann, SJ Memorial Building, which is located within the compound of the Knights of Columbus Fraternal Association of the Philippines, Inc. (KCFAPI) in Intramuros, Manila became the official General Headquarters of the Media & Information Committee for the 2015 Pope’s Visit. The NEC is optimistic that this opportunity will boost the promotional campaign for the Cause of Fr. Willmann. (KC News)

KC Luzon Tree Planting on 8th year

The Knights of Columbus Luzon Jurisdiction conducted their 8th K of C Luzon-wide Tree Planting Program “Puno Alay Ko Sa Kalikasan” on September 27.

Various K of C Council and Columbian Squires Circles participated in the event, which was held at the Las Piñas Paranaque Critical habitat and Ecotourism Area.

The yearly tree planting program is held in commemoration of the 37th Death Anniversary of the father of the Knights of Columbus in the Philippines, Fr. George J. Willmann, SJ.

Headed by Luzon State Deputy, Arsenio Isidro G. Yap, the event was also organized in cooperation with the local government of Paranaque. (YO)

The National Executive Committee for the Cause of Fr. George J. Willmann, SJ has started conducting an awareness campaign in September 2014 to different parishes across Metro Manila in coordination with different organizations.

Four Parishes have scheduled for the first week of September in preparation for the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary -Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Constellation Drive, Don Carlos Village, Pasay City headed by Fr. Michael D. Kalaw on September 3; Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish in Kalayaan Village Pasay City led by Fr. Domingo Asuncion on September 4; Santa Clara de Montefalco Parish in P. Burgos St., Pasay City led by Parish Priest: Fr. Nicardo P. Blanquisco on September 5; and Santo Niño Parish located in L. Chacon St., Tondo, Manila headed by Fr. Jacinto Rey M. Padua on September 7.

The NEC acknowledged the following volunteers for helping in the promotions on the cause of Fr. Willmann: Gemma Gepayo,  Shane Marie Navelgas, Duanne Astrera, Carl Kimberly Adan, Kat Beral, Jon Bayona, Sto. Niño de Tondo Parish Grand Knight Toto Nuque, and Jeric Carmona San Antonio.

The oldest council of the Knights of Columbus in the Philippines has received the campaign materials to be used on the cause of Fr. George J. Willmann, SJ on August 17, 2014 held at the KCMC 1000 Chamber in Intramuros, Manila.

The KCMC 1000 headed by the newly installed Grand Knight, Bro. Jun Florendo pledged their support on the awareness campaign initiated by the National Executive Committee on the Cause of Fr. George J. Willmann, SJ.

On April 23, 1905, the first council of the Knights of Columbus was established in the Philippines. This was Council No. 1000 located within the Walled City of Intramuros. At the time of its inauguration, they had thirty-one charter members, all of whom were Americans. Emerging as the first Grand Knight was Richard Campbell.

The Columbian Squires, the youth organization of the Knights of Columbus, is one of the most dynamic leadership development organizations for young Catholic men in the world, which established in the Philippines by Father George J. Willmann, SJ in 1950.
